5 reasons to have a Siberian husky

Siberian Huskies are some of the most beautiful and majestic pets you can ever own. In saying it, there are numerous pitfalls of owning a Siberian Husky that you should know about. It is strongly recommended that you are aware of these obstacles before making your purchase. Other than that, the following are the top 5 reasons that make Sibe a near-perfect pet!

1. The most beautiful breed of dogs

First of all, Siberian Huskies are by far one of the most beautiful dogs in the world. Nothing is more attractive than her bright blue eyes and shiny fur coat. In fact, walking around town or the beach with a strapped Sibe is sure to turn heads, and passersby will blow your mind in wonder and envy.

Siberian Huskies can also come in a variety of attractive colors with both their eyes and their fur. There are colors for all tastes. For starters, their eyes come in blue or brown, or a combination of any of the colors in each eye. In terms of fur, Huskies come in a combination of white, silver, black, brown, and copper red. Huskies can also be pure white or almost all black.

Huskies also have a large size being a medium-sized dog. They are not the giant “wolf” like the dogs you see in dog sled movies (that’s the Alaskan Malamute), and neither is the Siberian Husky a small dog that you can accidentally step on.

2. They are excellent as active working dogs.

For those who are very active dog owners, the Siberian Husky is the main breed for working dogs, therefore it possesses a great deal of energy and stamina. Huskies are great as working dogs, whether pulling a sled or as show dogs. But even without being “working dogs,” there is nothing more fun than being towed behind a couple of siblings.

Being towed on a bicycle is called bikejoring, while the same on skis is called skijoring. There are numerous clubs and organizations in most countries that participate in such activities and hold frequent races and events. If you want a dog that will keep you young and fit, the Siberian Husky would be ideal. In fact, these dogs are happiest when they are active and working.

3. Works great as a family pet

Most importantly, the Siberian husky does very well as a family pet. Sibe are very social animals with a great temperament and therefore they do very well with both children and adults. In fact, they are SO friendly that they will likely lick an intruder’s face just as much as the owner. (i.e. they are NOT a watchdog).

Huskies are known for their predatory instincts towards small animals, but this can be easily curbed by growing the puppy among other animals.

One of the main factors that make the Siberian husky a great family pet is its fun but mischievous personality. They are not just a boring dog that obeys all orders. A Husky will sometimes moan and whine, sometimes lick your face, sometimes try to escape, and sometimes sing (howl) or speak (try to speak!).

4. Works well with peers or in a group

If you are happy to have multiple dogs on your property, then the Siberian Husky would certainly be a good fit. Siblings are pack animals and therefore do well when they have a companion or within a group … in fact, some owners start their Huskies collection and end up with more dogs than children.

There is nothing more entertaining than watching a pair of Huskies approach and tag each other. They will literally be kept entertained for hours as the whole family sits down to watch the Huskies in action instead of what’s on TV.

5. They are kept very clean

Last but not least, one of the best things about the Siberian Husky is that they keep very clean year-round like a house cat, so they require very little bathing.

However, Huskies will lose ALL of their undercoat twice a year for a period of 3 weeks each time. This means that twice a year a great grooming job awaits you. BUT other than those twice a year, the Siberian Husky sheds almost no hair. This can be compared to some dogs that shed hair year-round and constantly leave a fur-covered couch after sleeping on it.

Siblings are also typically kept free of body odor and parasites, while also requiring very little trimming or trimming. Also, since Huskies have an ancestry of surviving in the wild, these dogs eat surprisingly very few amounts and can survive on much less than other dogs of the same size.
