On boston vacation it can mean different things to different travelers.

Whether you are visiting this city for the first time, the 10th time or if you are a local resident, there is always something to do.

A couple of factors to consider first are the time of year you are visiting, the weather, and the age of the other travelers accompanying you. Most of the listed activities are open all year round. However, some of the activities that involve water may be closed during part of the winter, and if they are open it can get a bit chilly for some.

Take a step back in time and learn about the people and places that made Boston famous during the American Revolution. You can take a self-guided tour with a Freedom Trail map or you can find many different guides and experts who will take you on a guided tour.

5. Visit Faneuil Hall

This old and historic market was a meeting place for many politicians and settlers in its day. Now you can visit the market and stroll through the surrounding shops. You will find many local street artists in and around the area. You’ll also find great food, fun, and souvenirs here.

6. Eat in the North End

This area is one of the largest Italian neighborhoods in Boston. The restaurants and the atmosphere are wonderful.

7. Ride the swan boats

These boats are found on Boston Common and grace the waters of the area. Anyone who has read Swan trumpet you will be familiar with these boats.

8. The Science Museum

This museum has some incredible exhibits. Visitors of any age will enjoy learning something new about planets, gravity, or electricity, to name a few, at this museum. The museum also has an IMAX theater.

9. Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum

This museum features Ms. Gardner’s art collection. She was one of the affluent residents of Boston in the 19th century and was friends with John Singer Sargent, the painter. There you will find some of his works, as well as those of famous European artists. The Italian architecture of both the courtyard and the museum is beautiful.

10. Visit Newbury Street

This area has some of the best shopping in Boston. You can wander this street and some of the surrounding streets in search of great fashion, accessories, and home accents.
