Discount Grocery Store Elevator Tickets: King Soopers, Costco and Safeway Ski Deals

On the hunt for elevator tickets at grocery stores

In the 1990s and early 2000s, there was a huge movement in the ski industry to partner with grocery stores and local ski rental locations to sell discounted lift tickets. Today, passes are still sold in grocery stores, but unfortunately the fees are no longer discounted. Even off-peak, prices at King Soopers, Safeway, Costco, and Albertsons grocery stores are the same as at the ski resorts.

It is common knowledge within the ski industry that buying your tickets in advance can save you a lot of time. With the advent of online brokers, discounted ski passes and deals are easily found online. A simple search for discounted rates at your favorite ski resort will lead you to many options that you may not know are available to you. Before spending your precious time in the car searching for deals at grocery stores like Safeway, King Soopers, or Costco, check online first.

1. Discounted tickets to the King Soopers ski lift

King Soopers is the grocery store best known for selling passes. This is especially true for Colorado skiers or those visiting while on vacation. In previous years, King Soopers had good rates at all major Colorado stores. This has changed in recent years, especially during peak season periods. Discounts at King Soopers no longer exist during peak season (Thanksgiving, Christmas, President’s Weekend and most of March). In the off season, ticket rates at most grocery stores are the same as what you would find at the ticket window.

2. Safeway discounted ski passes

Safeway ski pass specials are very similar to King Soopers and the price you pay depends on the time of year you plan to ski. It is advisable to book your elevator tickets online in advance, rather than waiting until the last minute.

3. Costco discounted skiing

Costco reportedly has deals for skiers in California and Utah, but the discounts don’t exist in Colorado. The price of various ski resorts in the Utah and California region varies greatly depending on when you want to head up the mountain. Check your local Costco store for options. Or if you prefer to save gas, money and time, look for better deals online. Most online travel portals that sell discounted ski tickets will email you the confirmation. After that, all you have to do is print your confirmation and bring it to the ticket office to redeem your passes.

4) REI Stores

Some REI stores sell elevator tickets through their connection to Ticket West. Prices vary according to the season.
