Innsbruck – there was already snow in the valleys in Tyrol on Tuesday. So it is high time to put on the winter tires – especially since the winter equipment requirement will apply from November 1st. An overview of the most important questions on the topic:

📅 When and to whom does the winter tire requirement apply?

“From November 1st to April 15th, winter tires must be fitted on all wheels in winter road conditions, ie snow, mud or ice,” explains ÖAMTC lawyer Alexander Letziki. This rule applies not only to cars and small trucks up to 3.5 tons, but also to “moped cars”. Drivers should regularly follow the weather reports. Simple road wetness, for example, can turn into black ice when the temperature drops and then winter tires are mandatory.
