Udaipur is the city of lakes and is sometimes referred to as the Venice of the East. This is an exotic city that offers many options for tourist activities to all its visitors. Lake Pichhola is located in the very center of the city of Rajasthan. This is the largest and oldest lake in Udaipur, built in 1362 by Pichhu Banjara. This was during the rule period of Maharan Lakha. It was expanded in 1560. From now on, it has been the number one attraction in Udaipur. The Gangaur Festival was held in an ancient village near the site. And this festival is always made more lively with lots of fireworks and other light works. People from all over the world always look forward to this event.

Fateh Sagar Lake is another man-made lake found in Udaipur. This is the second artificial lake with three islands adorning it. Nahru Park has been the largest among the islands that grace the lake. From now on this has been apart of a public park. It has a water jet fountain which adds to its beauty.

In 1559, Maharana Udai Singh built the Udai Sagar Lake. It took six years to complete the artificial lake. It was completed in 1565. It was built primarily to ensure that Maharana Udai Singh’s kingdom had sufficient water supplies at all times.

In 1573, there was a Maharana Pratap Singh who invented himself on the banks of the river. This invention was once a big deal because many were against the conditions offered by the Mughal Emperor Akbar. It eventually led to a battle, a bloody way to settle the dispute.

Jaisamand Lake belongs to the second largest artificial lake in all of Asia. It is also sometimes called Dhebar. This lake is very close to the natural habitat of animals. There are panthers, birds, deer, leopards, crocodiles and wild boars that live there. This was once a hunting ground for rulers back then.

Badi Lake was made to combat the effect of famine which was very devastating. This lake is adorned by three pavilions. It has a total area of ​​155 km2.

Rajsamand Lake was built in 1660. The intention was to relieve Maharana Raj Singh. This is to give work to all the victims of drought and famine. This also provides irrigation in places of drought.
