Hyesan is the place to visit in North Korea

This is actually a border town found around the Ryanggang province in North Korea. Hyesan is often a commercial and transportation hub, not to mention the administrative center of Ryanggang Province. One can reach Hyesan from other North Korean cities by rail.

The town is owned by a variety of paper, lumber and textile mills, although business in recent years has dwindled, resulting in loss of livelihoods for most of the area’s inhabitants. The city used to be one of North Korea’s main copper production centers. It is also home to several schools including Hyesan High College and Hyesan Girl’s School. Universities that have their property in Hyesan, as well as interesting places to visit, include things like Hyesan Medical School and Hyesan University of Agriculture and Forestry. Mount Baekdu is a mountain located around the border between China and North Korea. There are also several foreign tourists who want to challenge North Korea and climb the mountain to see the spectacular view from above across the North Korean side.
