Is the iPad going to change websites?

The iPad is the newly launched product by Apple. It is the tablet that many waited months to discuss the usefulness of the device. Could something like this have such an impact that it actually changes the look of popular websites on the Internet?

The problem with this particular device is that the iPad doesn’t have Flash. Many popular websites on the Internet use Flash elements for videos on the site or for the menu bar. On a device like the iPad, you can’t see them on the page. This means that basic navigation of many sites will not work properly in the iPad web browser.

There are many sites that are aware of this and have already switched to non-Flash pages for iPad users. This is a huge benefit for the millions who will be surfing the web with this new tablet device.

Some sites are changing elements on the page to the new HTML5 standards. With this, many of the things that are done with Flash can be done in the browser without it. These new standards may replace the missing plugin and make the web look a bit more normal for those on the iPad.

Other sites have already made changes for iPhone users in the past. There are some who have already designed specific pages for iPad. These are meant to be viewed on the iPad screen, which makes the whole thing user-friendly for those users. It is only a matter of time before there are many sites online that create pages specifically for these users.

Some video sites now offer MP4 alternatives to Flash. This will make viewing the video on these popular sites much easier than it would be without the Flash plugin.

Many of these changes will benefit mobile phone users, since these devices also don’t have Flash. These changes to the site will be of great benefit to everyone who uses these devices.
