Italian Greyhound Dog Breed Temperament, Health Issues, Grooming and Living Conditions

This breed can be very nervous and show signs of shyness if not treated like a normal dog and not given a lot of exercise, including daily walks.

They prefer a quiet home, although they get along well with children and other dogs. It is probably advisable to have an Italian Greyhound with older children. With this breed it is sensitive to learn to handle a shy dog, so that it can face situations. Being a good leader means that this dog should be treated like a dog and should not be allowed to develop small dog syndrome, as this can make it more shy, resulting in problems such as being agile. This dog is extremely fast, and he does not like more than running well in a safe area, he is also capable of climbing.

Health problems: Italian greyhound can have epilepsy, fractures, PRA, slip of the knee. Puppies are most fragile in this breed until about 18 months of age, and a balance must be struck between being careful with them and not treating them like a human baby.

Grooming: Caring for an Italian Greyhound is easy and all you have to do is rub the dog with a towel. Bathe, only when necessary, remembering that this dog must be kept warm and completely dry. This is a low spill.

Living Conditions – This breed will do well in an apartment and will do well without a garden, but it needs good exercise and space so it can run freely when outdoors.
