The Karaka Lakes area is part of a new development south of Auckland. Some even commented that they were happy to run at night or in the early hours of the morning when it was dark because they felt safe in the new subdivision. There are also new walkways along the entire length of the beach on the harbor side, which are even wide enough for prams.
For those who want to explore a little further afield, Clevedon markets are a great place to visit on Sundays, Clarkes Beach is a lovely spot for a swim or picnic with the family, and the Botanic Gardens are just a short drive away. For sports facilities there is the Massey Park Aquatic Center in Papakura, which has an Olympic-class swimming pool and a wave pool for children. Plus, for motor enthusiasts, there’s the Pukekohe Park race track just a 15-minute drive away, and of course, Hampton Downs is just down the road. Plus, there are shopping malls, restaurants, cafes, and theaters all within a short, easy drive, or you can take the train into town on the weekend.
