Vienna – After the revision of the conventionally powered Kona (including the full hybrid version), it is now the turn of the electric offshoot: The fully electric, subcompact SUV will be adapted for spring 2021, both optically and technically – only the drive configuration remains largely the same at the old one. The modifications at the front are particularly noticeable: The previously perforated radiator grille is no longer available, instead the Kona Elektro has an almost closed front – apart from the side, vertical openings in the area of the wheel arches and the small air inlet below the license plate. The striking bead below the very narrow LED daytime running lights also catches the eye. The headlights also have a new look.

To give a complete picture: The Kona Elektro will in future be available with ten exterior colors, five of which have been completely re-mixed. Almost all of them can be combined with a black contrasting roof.

Technical updates take place in the interior and in the driver assistance systems: a fully digital set of instruments with a diagonal of 10.25 inches can be placed behind the steering wheel, and a 10.25 inch screen can optionally be used to display the navigation system and to operate the infotainment system build in. Linking with popular smartphones is child’s play thanks to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and connectivity is ensured thanks to BlueLink.

If the Kona Elektro was already a very safe vehicle before, it will be even more so with the facelift: A blind spot assistant with automatic braking increases safety, as does an adaptive cruise control with a stop-and-go function. In addition, the lane following assistant acts with active steering interventions, the emergency brake assistant recognizes pedestrians and (optionally) cyclists. If desired, future Kona electric drivers can install a cross-traffic assistant at the rear, which helps avoid a collision with road users when reversing – thanks to an integrated braking function.
