Kunsthistorisches Museum: Peter Kerber becomes the new director of the Gemäldegalerie

Vienna (OTS) The KHM Museum Association is pleased to announce that, following an international tender, Dr. Peter Kerber will take up the position of Director of the Gemäldegalerie of the Kunsthistorisches Museum, which has been vacant since the end of 2020, on July 1, 2021.

After studying at the University of Munich, the German art historian worked for nine years at the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles. Since 2017 he has been a department head and curator at the Dulwich Picture Gallery in London. He has curated important exhibitions on event vedutas (Los Angeles, Minneapolis and Cleveland), French rococo art (Los Angeles) and Pompeo Batoni (Houston, London and Lucca), and published monographs on vedute painting and batoni.
