More expensive hospital and dental insurance in 2020

From January 2020, the premiums for the three optional insurances of the Christian Mutuality in hospitalization (Hospi +, Hospi + 100 and Hospi + 200) will be increased by 1.26% in reference to the change in the consumer price index from August 2018 to August 2019. The premiums for optional dental care insurance, Dento +, will also be increased, but by 4 , 44%, with reference to the variation of the global medical index for dental care. “There are no changes as regards the coverage and the advantages of these optional insurances”, specifies Joëlle Delvaux, her spokesperson.

Same story for Dentalia Plus, supplementary dental insurance for Free Mutuals (Partenamut, Omnimut, etc.): the premiums will be indexed in 2020 by 4.44% on the basis of the evolution of the dental medical index for 2019.

In regards to changes in Hospitalia premiums and Package H, these will remain unchanged in 2020. Under certain conditions, this assistance makes it possible to benefit from such as home help (cleaning, ironing and meals for people living under the same roof), childcare, pet care, school and teaching aid, transport of a person appointed by the insured (for example to take a child to school or to a relative), the delivery of essential purchases, non-urgent transport of the insured, telephone assistance (for example when the insured experiences language difficulties in communicating with medical authorities) or psychological assistance.

On the other hand, Hospitalia Plus premiums will be increased at a rate of 10% for those under 25 and a maximum of 7% from 25 years. “That said, here too we have planned improvements to our coverage from 1er next April: pre-hospital interventions will be reduced from 30 to 60 days, post-hospital interventions from 90 to 180 days while we are launching ‘Hospitalia Assist’, a new assistance in Belgium in the event of hospitalization (for one day) or serious illness (see box opposite). In regards to AG Insurance, an indexation of 1.73% (based on the consumer price index) will be applied to the premiums of theAG Care Hospitalization. Same story for KBC. “The hospital insurance premium will be adapted to the consumption index of June 2019, namely 1.73%”, according to Ilse De Muyer, his spokesperson.
