One-Problem Christian Organizations

The Bible tells us in Proverbs 8:13 “those who hate evil for fear of the Lord: pride, arrogance, evil ways and liars”, but today I fear that many Christian organizations and churches have focused on a single issue and do not adhere. to all the duty of man, which is to fear God and keep his commandments.

Tithe and offering type sermons are an example of single-issue causes that focus on giving for prosperity and are often heard in some mega-churches. There are ministries whose primary focus is healing, while other organizations focus on abortion, religious liberties, and many other legitimate issues of our time. However, when a nation that professes to be Christian, regardless of what President Obama said, cannot find some non-African American Christian churches or organizations to exercise their faith by fighting against racism and the double standard of justice that exists in America, there is something seriously wrong.

During my search to find a non-African-American church or organization making significant advances in this area, I felt something similar to the dialogue recorded in Gen. 18:22-33 between God and Abraham about the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. I didn’t find ten, I found one, William Wilberforce, a Christian British politician in the late 1700s who worked much of his life for the abolition of slavery in England and succeeded after many years. However, in the last century I have not found any significant Americans of non-African American descent standing out and this is a disgrace before God. The high level of tolerance for racism in our society, from non-African American Christian churches and religious organizations, is shameful.

Instead, single-issue causes, in the name of Christianity, have given many a sense of doing good and being involved in a worthwhile cause. I know that many of these causes are legitimate and worthwhile. However, racism, injustice and inequality between the races have been around much longer and its reach is widening with the emigration of other minority races. These are national “sins” that existed before abortion, religious freedoms, and many of today’s popular religious themes. However, I did not find any non-African American religious leader or faith-based organization that felt compelled to speak up and fight for these causes.

It is said that the most outspoken atheist has a moment in time when doubt assails his conscience. A split second of doubt is what separates hope from the sad condition described in the Bible as given over to a reprobate mind. Failure is several degrees below hopelessness because for anyone whose conscience has sunk to this level, there is no chance of recovery. The reprobation of the mind comes by edict and pronouncement of God and nothing on earth can reverse it except Him.

The Book of Malachi Chapter 1:6-14 talks about faulty sacrifices and this is how the Lord views some of these one-issue Christian causes that continue to ignore the real issues. Verse 14 says that the person who knows the sacrifice the Lord requires “loves your brother” and promises to do so, but instead of being obedient and offering the proper sacrifice, he offers a flawed or unique sacrifice. The verse continues and calls that person a cheater and says that they are cursed. This is a harsh indictment against some of these African-American and non-African-American Christian churches and organizations. They are passionate about their tainted sacrifices instead of speaking openly about racism, injustice, inequality, and the poor.

There are so many things going on that true Christians should be concerned about in our society and around the world, but Jesus gave two commandments, which involved loving God so much that you would make any sacrifice to obey him and love your brother as yourself. .

Here is the wisdom of this matter. The horrible thing about reprobation is that it allows the sinner to feel no guilt because he cannot see the error of his ways and I am afraid this has happened to a large part of the American Christian community. I hope and pray that you have a better understanding of what the Bible says in Matt. 7:23 about the Day of Judgment when God will tell some who thought they were doing the right thing to please him, get away from me I never knew you. If this is your situation, I pray that God will open your eyes to the truth and give you a heart of repentance.
