Shortcut to American Citizenship!

Obtaining US citizenship is not easy. One has to live in the United States for about a decade before being eligible for the same. But then, is it the only way? As in any other aspect, there are also shortcuts here. You can become a United States citizen in less than six months, as long as you join the United States Army.

With the new amendments taking place, temporary skilled immigrants can now join the US military. However, these migrants include those who have H-1B visas, etc. and that they have been living in the United States for a minimum of two years. This modification has occurred with respect to the lack of personnel to recruit in the Army. The requirement has also occurred with personnel assigned to Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.

This amendment marks the first time after the Vietnam War that the military is open to temporary residents of the United States. However, the army is open to those with a Green Card. This can also be seen as a tactic to bring more people into the military.

With the recession and slow market growth, this is an open option for many immigrants who want to settle in the United States. So in a way, this is the shortest route to being an American citizen that is to serve the country.

It is basically a one-year pilot program that would recruit 1,000 immigrants from across the country. The process would start from New York.

There is speculation with skilled immigrants joining the US military, there is a lot of room to improve the quality of military personnel. This is because these skilled immigrants are highly skilled with years of professional work experience along with knowledge of many foreign languages. This would not be the case for many Native Americans. So it would be easy to impart those specific skills and it would surely fill in the gaps regarding language interpretation, medical facilities, and other intelligence requirements.

This program is highly applicable to immigrants of Indian origin who form the largest immigrant population in the United States under the qualified migrant category. However, Latinos who generally speak Spanish form the highest population in the unskilled category.

About five hundred and fifty members of the staff would be recruited from New York itself with another four hundred and fifty from other parts of the country. Those who speak one of the thirty-five specific languages, such as Arabic, Tamil, Hindi or Urdu, Chinese, etc., are eligible for this program. However, those who speak Spanish are not strictly allowed in this program.

Since the different languages are always difficult for the US Marines to deal with, this can be a new beginning for them, especially for those in the Afghan-Pakistani areas.

This program would also recruit three hundred physicians from other parts of the United States.

If this program is found to be a success, it would also be expanded to all other domains of the US military.

So if you feel like America is your home and for generations to come, this doesn’t seem like a bad option at all!
