Study: Female bosses drink too much
Women strikes their own bar
Vienna (OTS) – “Women in management positions drink too much,” said Andrew Thompson from the University of Liverpool, summarizing the results of a new study with over 100,000 participants. That coincides with the experiences of Gaby Guzek, author of the book “Alcohol adé”.
In general, men tend to look too deep into the glass. If they are craftsmen and bar owners, drinking women are more likely to be at the top of the career ladder. Study leader Thompson sees stress in the workplace as a trigger. “That corresponds to my experience,” says Guzek.
The former managing director of a PR agency knows what she’s talking about. She was dependent herself, and today she helps those affected to get out on the website www.alkohol-ade.com. “Women often make murderous demands on themselves. They are overwhelmed by their own yardstick – and therefore reach for the glass, “adds Guzek.
“It is not a weak will that drives you to alcohol again and again. This is not how these top women experience themselves and they are right. Ultimately, our brain chemistry is behind alcoholism. Once you understand this, it also gives you completely new, successful tools to overcome the problem. “
