The emotional side of the business

When I started my business, small business experts asked me “do you have a business plan?” Or “do you know your competitors?”

No one on my trip ever said to me, “Do you have an emotional business plan?” or “do you know yourself?” Most businesses fail because the owner is unaware that emotional hurdles need to be overcome.

It took me a painful time to realize that whatever haunts me in life will follow me in my business. Your business is not a separate place that you visit where you leave your emotions out on a hanger. They go wherever you go. It is important to know what emotions flare up when you enter your business. Once you become aware of your emotional triggers, you can try to make peace with them.

If you can’t live off your prices, take a look at what’s standing between you and setting prices that reflect the greatness you bring to your customers.

If you can’t say no to customer demands, take a look at what’s keeping you from setting human boundaries for yourself.

If you can’t get your business into a new perspective, take a look at what’s keeping you from seeing business as an adventure.

If you can’t show love for your business, take a look at why you started this type of business in the first place.

Being human is all about emotion, even in business. Anyone who tells you otherwise is not telling you the business truth.
