The new Golf R rushes from zero to 100 km / h in 4.7 s | Tyrolean daily newspaper online
Bis zu 270 km/h schnell kann der neue Golf R fahren – dank eines 320 PS starken Zweiliter-Vierzylinder-Turbobenzinmotors und eines traktionssichernden 4Motion-Allradsystems.
Salzburg – The dethroned industry leader is fighting for its form: The VW Golf, number one in the domestic registration statistics for decades, this year – as in the previous year – will only be in second place behind the Škoda Octavia. In the first nine months of the current year, the Volkswagen compact car sold 4602 times, the Czech cousin managed 6019 units. For comparison: In the previous year, Škoda had 8,630 new registrations for the same period, the internal counterpart VW 7,499.
After all, there is one area where the Golf can continue to hold its own against the Octavia: in the sport versions. May the RS derivatives of the Octavia always deserve respect – the Golf R is buying all of them, especially in the latest generation presented this week: A drilled out two-liter four-cylinder turbo gasoline engine makes 320 hp and lifts maximum torque of 420 Newton meters. It only takes 4.7 seconds for the Golf R to reach 100 km / h from a standstill. The compact sports car can drive up to 250 km / h, and in conjunction with the R-Performance package, even 270 km / h is possible.
Order start in December
An adapted 4Motion all-wheel drive ensures the greatest possible traction safety. This system works with wheel-selective torque control on the rear axle in order to increase agility (R-Performance Vectoring).
The all-wheel drive system is also networked with the electronic differential locks (XDS) and the adaptive chassis system DCC via a driving dynamics manager. Incidentally, a dual clutch transmission with seven stages is also incorporated into the power transmission ex works.
Orders are expected to start in Austria in December. (panty)
