Tips to save time cleaning the kitchen

The kitchen must be kept clean and organized at all times to eliminate many food-related illnesses and safety hazards. Keeping the kitchen clean and safe often requires a great deal of effort to scrape up dry food spills, wash dishes, sanitize, remove dirt, and much more. Housework shouldn’t put a lot of pressure on our time and energy. Various cleaning strategies can be applied to maintain proper sanitation in the kitchen without spending too much time cleaning up the mess.

Taking a few steps to prevent dirt and clutter buildup in the first place will definitely save you from tedious kitchen cleaning sessions.

1. It is easy to remove burned food left in pans and other kitchen utensils after cooking. You don’t have to spend a lot of time scraping it off by first soaking it in soapy water before washing or loading it in the dishwasher.

2. Never let unwashed dishes and other kitchen utensils accumulate in the kitchen sink over time. Leaving it impure for a long time will invite insects and help spread bacteria. As soon as you have finished using the dishes, wash them immediately. For large families, ask each family member to wash the dishes after use so they don’t build up, which makes the dishwashing session so exhausting.

3. Common problems with sinks are scratches and water marks. A simple tip to avoid scratching the sink is to place a rubber mat on the bottom when washing sharp objects. Cleaning the sink with a clean, soft cloth soaked in vinegar will remove any water marks on the sink and leave it gleaming.

4. Food spills and drips, when cooked and served, are also very common in the kitchen but often take up much of our time to dispose of. Avoiding spills directly onto kitchen surfaces will save you a lot of time cleaning up. Use paper towels to catch spills by placing them in the area where you are serving food. Covering cookware, when baking in the oven, will also help prevent food splatter in the oven.

5. To remove drips from microwave-baked foods and eliminate odors, heat a cup of water in a microwave-safe container with lemon juice or vinegar. Keep it inside for a few minutes. That should soften baked goods sticking to the inside and remove lingering food odors.

6. Keep the kitchen free of germs and bacteria with the use of disinfectants. Use only natural disinfectants to ensure safety. Using sanitizing wipes is also a safe and quick way to sanitize many surfaces in the kitchen.
