WotLK Addons: Top 10 Most Downloaded World of Warcraft Mods

Many WotLK add-ons have been released for Blizzard’s latest expansion, WoW Wrath of the Lich King. Due to the wide variety of mods and add-ons, it can be difficult to know which ones are the best for their class. I’m here to show you what are some of the most used plugins in WoW Wrath of the Lich King.

According to statistics from curse.com, these are the 10 most downloaded add-ons in World of Warcraft WotLK:

1) QuestHelper – Total downloads as of January 19, 2009: 17,603,306

Many of you reading this have probably heard of QuestHelper (outside of WoW or within WoW). This plugin is known to be the best leveling mod in WoW Wrath of the Lich King. The database it uses is very extensive and will help you find exactly where you need to go in the game. Not only that, it will also calculate the fastest route for you to complete all your missions in your mission log! That in itself is a great advantage, as it will help you gain experience in the most effective way possible.

2) Count – Total downloads as of January 19, 2009: 4,453,450

If you’re looking for a solid graphical damage meter, look no further. This plugin will help you monitor the damage done, the dps, the damage taken, the healing done and much more! Graphics are very easy to read and exceptionally accurate.

3) Improved Atlasloot – Total downloads as of January 19, 2009: 13,342,217

This user interface mod will allow you to see all the loot tables for each boss in the game. Not only that, but it will also show you drop rates and allow you to link items on any chat channel.

4) Cartographer – Total downloads as of January 19, 2009: 8,135,336

This plugin is ideal for viewing all World of Warcraft maps (even if you haven’t explored the areas yet).

5) Deadly Boss Mods – Total downloads as of January 19, 2009: 7,144,991

If you don’t have this plugin or BigWigs installed, you are just playing bad. This plugin tracks everything you need to know about a boss fight. Raid warnings and slash timers make this a must every player should have. This mod lets you know when and what to expect at each boss encounter in the game.

6) Decursive – Total downloads as of January 19, 2009: 2,531,990

If you are of a Cura class (eg Mage, Druid, Priest, Paladin, etc.) and you don’t have this mod, then you are hurting yourself and your party members. If you don’t want to fail the resolution, I suggest you install this plugin.

7) Omen Threat Meter – Total downloads as of January 19, 2009: 7,852,924

I realize that there is now a kind of threat meter in the game that warns you if you are going to aggro; however, this plugin has always been and continues to be very useful. Any kind of dps that enjoy serious attacks must have this plugin installed to monitor TPS (threat per second).

8) X-Perl drive frameworks – Total downloads as of January 19, 2009: 3,418,029

Many people use X-Perl Unitframes as a replacement for Blizzard’s default units. I personally prefer Grid over X-Perl (especially for healers). However, X-Perl has its advantages and is still a very useful mod. Either way, the default blizzard unit frames definitely need to be replaced.

9) Auctioneer / Auctioneer – Total downloads as of January 19, 2009: 9,593,450

This is a very popular plugin to help ease your WoW auction experience; however, I recommend Auctionator over this plugin as it seems easier to use. All you have to do is Alt + click on an item when you are in the auction house and it will automatically post that item and calculate the price for you and downgrade your competition. Very useful indeed!

10) Bartender4 – Total downloads as of January 19, 2009: 1,607,651

This plugin is ideal for customizing your bars and the user interface. This mod also makes the keybindings very easy to configure. I highly recommend using this mod over the standard WoW UI.
