3 ways to choose the best new company for you
Well that’s a good question. Take an example like an engineer who had a long professional career and did quite well, but now he is tired of the industry. He or she wants to make a change and do something different in a whole new industry, but he or she isn’t sure where to start. There are 3 places I can suggest for you to start.
1. Magazines and websites of startups and entrepreneurs
I think it’s important that you get some general ideas about where to start a business and what types of businesses you can start. A good place that has some information is the entrepreneur magazine or the franchise or small business start-up magazines. It has a variety of articles on some of the experiences and challenges that people in these industries face. More importantly, the businesses you could start and the current trends that are happening that have more businesses to develop are currently sought after by consumers.
2. Government and industry resources and statistics
Once you have a few say 2-3 different businesses you are thinking of starting, do some research. Check your local government and industry websites for statistics on those businesses. Learn about the technology, experience, and partnerships you’ll need to make to start those businesses. Also start thinking about developing a business plan for your specific business and how you are going to make it successful.
3.Local community and friends
A third thing to think about is your local community. If you can’t find a business to start. Ask around and see what’s missing in your local community. Talk to friends and others in your community and start thinking about a possible business and if it is viable. Is it a need that people want or is there really a viable financial business that can be started to fill this need in the community? You may also want to go back to step 2 and see if there is any financing available for this business in your community. Maybe someone else has already started this business recently and you don’t know about it. Also, maybe someone else or a larger company is reaching out to your community and you don’t know it yet. You will need to check with your local government or council to see if there have been any business license applications or developments underway for a larger business of the same type to come to your community.
