The City Project along Yamuna Expressway will be the biggest urban regeneration project in the whole of Pakistan. The main objective of the project is to create a world class business and commercial hub on the Expressway. The City Project will provide ample of new job opportunities for the people of Pakistan as it will link the existing cities of Rawal, Karachi, Quetta and Multan, with the new city of Yamuna. The new cities are expected to comprise around 70 percent population of Pakistan’s future population. This huge expansion of the cities will also provide an alternative housing facility for the millions of inhabitants of Pakistan.

The new cities will be developed along the route of the Yamuna Expressway. There are various types of projects along the expressway such as improved bus terminals, shopping complexes, and offices, flats, residential colonies, schools and hospital complexes, etc. All these buildings will have good access to the market and the commercial centres. The new townships and villages that come up along the route of the Yamuna Expressway will constitute an amazing construction and infrastructure boom in Pakistan. The plan and concept of the City Project are actually the same as the ones that are implemented in India and China but with much more planning and funds.

The project involves developing the cities of Rawal, Karachi, Multan, Quetta, Yamuna and Urdu ka Fazal and then developing the towns and villages on the planned route of the Yamuna Expressway. The plan and design of the City Project are like that of the Chinese cities like the Hangzhou, Beijing and others. It has been divided into three parts. The first part is to develop the new town and its infrastructure and the second part is to develop the commercial centres and thirdly the residential colonies. The whole development is going on very fast pace.

A Brief Introduction to the City Project on Yamuna Expressway

Before the construction, a decision has to be taken about developing a residential plot in a particular area. The developers discuss and negotiate with the residents and with the landowners before constructing residential plots in the area. The residential plots will range from one to five rooms and from eight to twenty-two plots for each family. The plots that are developed will be sold to the people living in the same sector of the city. The prices of the plots will be decided after proper negotiations with the buyers and will vary depending upon the size of the plot.

In the third phase of the City Project, teabag and chithirapuram will be developed. These are the industrial belts of the city where the major textile and garment industries are located. The industries here will employ around 2021 people and these plots will be sold to the persons residing in these industries once the City Project comes up. The construction companies have already begun building houses for these employees in greater noida.

The fourth and the last phase of the City Project are about the commercialization of the third phase. The third and the fourth phases of the City Project were designed to increase the connectivity of the residents of greater noida to the rest of the cities in the state by enabling them to get to their work places via the expressways. This is done by connecting the parts of the town with each other through the expressways. But to make the connection between the town and the outskirts of the city easier for the inhabitants of greater noida, the City Project is being executed through the third and fourth phases of the industrial development industrialization in the greater noida.
