Buffalo Technology DriveStation Axis 1TB is a family of desktop external hard drives that offers high performance and easy-to-use storage. Not only does the Buffalo hard drive easily store and back up your data, it also carries various files, including huge media files that are too large to fit on a USB key. Simply connect the hard drive to your computer and it will automatically install with Windows 2000, XP, or OS-X computers. The fanless heatsink chassis design allows the DriveStation to run cool and quiet.
The storage device can be placed vertically or horizontally on the desktop. There is no cooling fan, although there is clearly an empty space for one, so you will need to keep the drive in a well-ventilated area.
When connected via USB3, the Buffalo DriveStation passed our file transfer tests, writing large files at 105MB / s and reading at just under 152MB / s, making it one of the fastest external hard drives out there.
