Buy shoes for comfort rather than style

I explained it in a couple of posts, but I’ll keep saying it, when you’re going to buy a shoe, you should put comfort before the style of the shoe. To me this is crucial because you are actually wearing the shoes, the fancy part is more for the viewer than the person wearing the shoe. Sometimes I catch myself buying some shoes that just look great, but can’t be outrageously priced either. Initially, comfort is what I rely on when buying shoes. I have to feel comfortable wearing the shoe because I intend to walk in them all day long and I don’t want to come home to change because my feet hurt because I made a bad choice in choosing the shoes. Therefore, it is important that you take your time in the store when trying on a pair of shoes. I’ve seen people just walk in and ask for their size and say they’re ready to go simply because they think they’ll love the shoe and feel comfortable when they put it on. Some shoes are built a little differently in terms of where you need to go half as big to be comfortable. Some shoes are a little smaller and some are a little bigger.
You need to try on both shoes and walk around the store to feel how comfortable the shoes are. As I mentioned in other posts, the employee probably doesn’t care as he is essentially investing in the shoe because he doesn’t plan on wearing it once, he wants to have it for months or years. Also, try on more than one pair and let the clerk know what level of comfort he’s looking for, he’ll guide you to the right shoe. Some people need more padding than others. For example, my dad has back problems, so he needs shoes with more insoles or pads to walk comfortably throughout the day. A couple of years ago my dad had invested in Sketchers shoes which had memory foam and they helped immensely in keeping his back pain to a minimum or where he would feel no pain at all. Buying the wrong shoes can also lead to other problems, not just back pain. Tight pointy shoes are also bad because they basically squeeze the front of the foot. Most slim toe shoes are dress shoes and you should stick to buying regular round toe shoes instead of slim toe shoes. They can cause bunions, corns, and other toe deformities. You don’t want them to look bad while you’re wearing them because those problems will get worse over time if you keep wearing them. Some people have flat feet and you should also make sure that you buy shoes that are designed for your foot.
I forgot to mention, when you are in the store you can also ask the clerk to measure the length and width of your foot to also give you a better idea of what shoes you should try on. Some shoes are even sold in wider sizes, so this can be a big help in finding the right shoe. Another suggestion an employee told me a while ago is to go shopping at night. He told me that your feet tend to swell towards the end of the day, which changes your shoe size. This does not mean that you can be a size 9 in the morning and 12 in the afternoon, that is not the case, it may be that you only need a half size larger or the next larger size. In addition to the last point I mentioned, some people have one foot larger than the other and I would suggest buying the size that fits the larger foot for obvious reasons. If you buy the smaller size, your larger foot will be uncomfortable and sore. Shopping in comfort is extremely important because you plan to wear shoes many times, so you need to be able to wear them throughout the day and not think your feet hurt. There are also different types of shoes, and you can check my other post for that. There are different types for different activities you plan to do throughout the day, just make sure you buy the right ones.
There are many reviews on the sites about shoes that other people found comfortable and you should take their word for it, but always try the shoe on before making your final decision. I also choose to avoid shopping online because I want to see the shoe in person and want to try it on. It’s also a big hassle if the online website you visited doesn’t have an actual physical store to go to when you want to return the shoes, so it’s a big deal. I cannot stress enough the importance of buying comfortable shoes and I will keep saying that so people don’t get hurt in a bad pair of shoes. A lot of problems come with a bad pair of shoes and you can easily google all the problems people incur because of a bad choice they made at the store. Don’t buy on impulse and make sure you get your money’s worth when choosing which pair to buy. It is easy to avoid all these problems, you just have to be patient enough when it comes to finding the right shoes to avoid long-term problems. Your pain and suffering are not worth those shoes you wear just to match your outfit. I don’t want this to sound like a life or death decision, but they are important because they support your body and with the wrong pair, you can expect major back and foot problems.
