Before hiring an outside service, such as home care, assisted living, nursing homes, and even services such as an elder advocate or financial planner, seniors and their families should seek evidence of ethical business practices.

The health and elder care business adheres to safe hiring practices. This simply means that all employees are properly screened by state authorities to eliminate the chances of hiring someone who has a history of theft, fraud, or abuse of any nature.

The business demonstrates that each elderly customer is treated with respect and honors the elderly as a valuable elderly person with a past and a future.

The elderly are not gadgets to be stored. Everyone has a past and many have interesting and exciting pasts. Encouraging older clients to share their life experiences in innovative ways not only improves the quality of life for these older people, but also improves the quality within our communities.

When the life of each individual person is respected and honored, it fosters the continuation of self-giving.
