So where do the songs come from? It starts as an idea in the writer’s head and is then followed through the composition process to receive the royalty checks. Try to write from the inside based on your natural and spiritual experiences. Once you come up with the story, condense it. Here are some tips on how to prepare a package for review:
1) Name your composition company
2) Prepare cover letter
3) Submit only copyrighted material
4) Write the letter on your letterhead
5) A double space between the verses or the section.
6) Block the lyrics like a poem
7) Show copyright and authorship information
8) Limit of two or three songs, but no more than six.
10) Send a demo cassette when needed
11) Label cassettes correctly
12) Ship package in 8 ½ x 11 envelope
Be sure to send the package to publishers and record companies to “release” your song (s). The package must be thoroughly and carefully prepared so that you present yourself as a credible and professional writer.
