Infidelity 101 – Sure Clues You’re Dealing With A Cheating Spouse

Facing a cheating spouse is undoubtedly one of the most emotionally crippling events to deal with. You’ve had friends break up and get divorced because of infidelity, and now you suspect your spouse is cheating on you. You two don’t seem as close as you once were. A friend might point out that cheating was the reason for the sudden estrangement, but you’re not sure. Before a full-blown attack on your partner, I suggest you first look for these signs of a cheating spouse.

Many times a cheating spouse will give off subtle signals that even they don’t notice.

• For one thing, they’ll probably be more distracted than usual. Their thoughts are elsewhere as they daydream about their new flame.
• You may notice slight changes in what they wear or how they present themselves. Without really thinking about it, they might “prepare” for their next meeting with this secret lover. If they haven’t changed their routine for years, you’ll be the first to know.
• Cheating on yourself will probably increase your self-consciousness. You will notice that they question you. General conversation starters like “How was your day?” can get a response asking why you want to know. They may also want to further qualify things, reasoning why or why they are doing something. For example, if they are going out, they can justify their actions.

A more obvious sign of a cheating spouse might be the extra time you spend away from home: late nights at work and out-of-town business trips are two common reasons. It’s very possible that they need to spend more time at work and there will be more trips out of town on business, so don’t start accusing right away. They will surely appreciate a visit from you with a late snack at work, even an offer to accompany them on the business trip would be a great opportunity for you to spend time with them. However, if excuses start coming out of their mouths about “why not,” you might want to dig deeper.

One last indicator of a cheating partner is a lack of intimacy. You would have to be blind and numb not to notice a change in the intimacy you have with each other. If they’re getting a fair amount of attention from their new lover, the last thing they’ll want to be around is you. The same goes for sex. There’s going to be a level of excitement about this new relationship that probably won’t exist between the two of you, so you’ll come up with excuses of being too tired or in a bad mood. If you can’t discern any other issues you’re dealing with that might be causing a lack of intimacy, keep a close eye, you’re probably getting it elsewhere.
