Italy: the perfect country for vegetarian tourists

Finding out where to go on vacation, for vegetarian tourists, often turns out to be a “little problem”. With vegetarians being a significant minority of the population, most countries don’t really focus on them. However, there are Japan, India, Thailand, and most other Asian destinations that actually offer quite a wide variety of vegetarian cuisine. But what about Europe?

Europe is surely not very famous for its meatless dishes. Italy, however, is a real rock in this matter. With its Mediterranean diet, famous throughout the world for losing weight and not going hungry, it offers a huge number of recipes based on vegetarian ingredients. Italian cuisine also focuses on genuine ingredients.

With Italy having this temperate climate that is perfect for agriculture, many fresh produce and ingredients are available throughout the year. In addition to the famous Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Minestrone and Caprese (tomatoes, mozzarella and basil), Italy cares a lot about its vegetarian gourmets. Even if there aren’t that many explicit vegetarian restaurants, serving only vegetarian dishes, that’s no problem! Any restaurant, osteria or trattoria has plenty of meatless dishes on its menu: a wide variety of starters, pastas and grilled vegetables, to name a few.

Not only can you eat delicious dishes, but you can even learn how to prepare them: many of the Italian rural hotels and inns, in particular, include cooking courses in their packages. So people can stay for a whole week or as long as they want and take part in cooking classes. There tourists can learn to make bread, olive oil, the prestigious Italian wines, but also complete menus. Many inns in Tuscany have made a true cult of these cooking classes, as well as on the Amalfi Coast where in Furore, the Furore Inn Resort, a 5-star hotel based on well-being with a large wellness area of 600 m² includes in its offer cooking courses. in a beautiful kitchen with an incredible ocean view.

Obviously, this new trend has made its way across the country. Cooking classes are held in accommodations throughout Italy, where, between sightseeing tours of medieval cities and relaxing hours on beautiful beaches, it’s also possible to take home an Italian culinary experience.
