Listen to books

My girlfriend once told me, “I don’t have time to read, so I buy audiobooks, I can put them in the car while driving to and from work, and I find that pleasure in books without reading.” At the time I was surprised, first of all, that she had never actively searched for an audio book to listen to as well, but mostly because she was right. Working forty or more hours a week, who really has that time to sit back and relax or snuggle in a comfortable living room to read a good book.

My next day off I did some research on the internet and found some pretty wonderful audio literature online, books that I had heard of but never had a chance to read. Now it was my time to discover this whole new world of audio literature.

Some time ago there was this movie that I missed in theaters, and to my surprise I was able to locate the audiobook online, I bought it, and when it arrived a couple of weeks later, I was listening to that audiobook. every trip, to and from work every day. Let me say that it was like being in the cinema listening to that fictional book being read out to me. I enjoyed the experience so much that within a week I went back to my favorite online store to order more audiobooks.

My other option for audio literature are inspirational or motivational books that will help me focus on more positive aspects of life and not be bombarded by the negativity that our daily life can generate.

Personally, I love fictional stories, they attract me, since I can disconnect my brain from the reality of my daily life. Where ever I feel like a robot. You identify? Day after day I wake up, iron the children’s clothes for school, prepare lunch for everyone, shower and get ready for the day, breakfast, feed the dog, make sure the children are ready for school and Homework and last minute things are sorted out and the kids are dropped off at school. Then I travel forty-five minutes to work. Only to finish, usually eight hours later, driving home, making dinner, catching up with the family, watching mind-numbing TV, and throwing myself into bed. Seven to eight hours later, if I don’t wake up in the middle of the night with the kids, I get up and do it again. Are you sure this saga sounds familiar to some of you? Audiobooks have helped me unplug and enjoy a great novel without having to take the time to physically sit somewhere (without interruptions) and enjoy a book.

I am very grateful to my friend for sharing with me her audio literature adventures, now I am completely converted into enjoying a good book through audio.
