Mobile phone stories: strange but true

The most expensive download of all time

A world-renowned mobile phone company recently reported that it charged a subscriber more than $ 66,000 to download three full movies from the Internet via their mobile phone.

The user was subscribed to the Vodafone “Connect 600” service, which offers “unlimited downloads”, which when reading the fine print actually meant 600 megabytes every two months!

As each movie was a whopping 600-700MB in size, it’s easy to see why the Italian gentleman passed a bill for $ 66,000! Since then, he has asked consumer authorities for help paying his bill, but it is unclear if he has received any help.

The moral of this story is to read the fine print.

The mobile phone saves an Indian in the fall of death

Tkamzalian, a thirty-year-old Indian, miraculously escaped after an accident while driving between Itanagar and Churachandpur, Manipur, with his mother, sister and brother. His car was involved in a terrible 300 foot fall, although surprisingly Tkamzalian managed to survive.

Although Tkamzalian’s relatives had reported the family missing, the police did not know the location of the vehicle. It was later revealed that Tkamzalian’s mobile phone had remained active and, using state-of-the-art technology, the police were able to find and recover the car.

Surprisingly, Tkamzalian had survived 5 days without food, water or warm clothing, in the freezing temperatures of Nagaland. After medical treatment, and a season convalescing, Tkamzalian has recovered from his ordeal. His mobile phone really was a lifesaver.

It’s all part of the show!

After placing an ad in the local newspaper, offering her two poodle puppies for sale, Sally Edwards was surprised to receive her answering phone message and here the voice of popular comedian Russell Brand asking if the puppies were still for sale.

It was only after rechecking the message at some point later that Ms. Edwards heard what sounded like an “audience” in the background, cheering and applauding Brand’s every word.

A little taken aback by the entire episode, Sally spoke to some of her friends only to find out that Brand had been performing locally. Apparently, he had commanded a member of the audience’s mobile, taken her number from the local newspaper and put her live on the show.

Russell Brand is well known for his flamboyant style, and he recently got in trouble for wasting the police’s time after calling them on his cell phone during one of his live shows. Sally reports that the dogs have gone to good homes and there are no comedians involved.
