The source of energy is a global environmental problem

You must have heard of an energy crisis. This crisis refers to the rate of depletion of non-renewable energy resources. Non-renewable energy resources cannot reproduce on their own and take a long time to replenish. The depletion rate of these resources is greater than the replacement rate. As a result, there will come a time in the future when the inhabitants of the earth will have no non-renewable energy resources to support their daily energy needs.

This makes it only a part of the whole scenario. The rapid consumption of energy resources has different effects on the sustainability of these resources. Drilling and extraction of different finite energy resources results in environmental pollution. This contamination can be of any form. It can be air pollution, soil pollution, and water pollution.

Some scientists argue that fuels of carbonic origin are impossible to exhaust completely. They will still be usable to provide power one way or another. Others argue that these resources will dwindle over time.

Important energy resources in the form of fossil fuels are coal, gas, and oil. Of these, oil has proven to be the most efficient and valuable resource in the field of energy.

However, the continued use of these fuels is contributing to the most dangerous environmental problem that is global warming. Oil extraction poses a greater threat to the environment than coal mining extraction. The machinery used and the procedure involved in drilling oil fields is much more sophisticated than mining in a natural setting in coal mines. This results in an environmental impact of drilling when compared to coal mining.

There can be a number of threats that these oil extraction projects pose to wildlife. Studies have shown that wildlife migration routes have changed due to the development of oil and gas fields. Also, this aspect of life on earth is affected by a change in the level of noise in the environment that has resulted from these fields.

Oil spills have unavoidable consequences on oil field development and have been dangerous to the environment. These oil spills create lasting effects on the health of the people living on the planet.

Due to the high demand for energy, the development and maintenance of oil and gas fields has become inevitable. This means a greater number of oil fields. The toxic chemicals from these fields, mist and dust have a severe adverse effect on the environment. In some areas of America, this waste pollutes the air so much that it has been converted to ozone at ground level.

To supply the daily energy demand, new projects are being started. These projects mean increased use of machinery at high altitudes, which in turn disrupts panoramic views of the sky at night.

The contribution of methane to environmental pollution is also very important. This gas is 84 times more harmful to the environment than other gases produced from oil extraction. This gas helps in global warming by trapping more heat.
