With the recruiting season finally drawing to a close, the USC Trojans, seemingly exhausted by all the first innings on their star-studded roster and losing valuable players who were left ineligible, had to find replacements for all the talent that left and they walked away with the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation narrowly beating the University of Florida for that honor.

The USC Trojans signed 14 of the top 100 prep players in the nation. The 2006 USC Trojans class may be one of the best in school history, due to the fact that several of the players can play multiple positions, including S/WR Taylor Mays (6-3, 218) of Seattle, Washington, who is a 10.5 sprinter with a 37-inch vertical jump and is considered the top safety prospect in the entire country, WR/DB Vidal Hazelton of Chatham, Virginia, who received the highest player rating in the country with an 8 .3 due to his odd combination of size (6-3200) and speed (4.47)

It almost seems unfair that the USC Trojans have been able to attract so many talented stars from across the country, many positions (RB, DB) that were a concern to the coaching staff because of depth are now team strengths.

Running Back was a must and the USC Trojans got 4 of the best in the nation with the two headliners being Los Angeles Dorsey HS’s Stafon Johnson (5-11, 200,4.4) and Emmanuel Moody (6-1, 195, 4.4) from Coppell (Texas)) HS, both should be able to contribute immediately, this group will ensure the 4-time defending Pacific Ten Conference Champion USC Trojans are a national powerhouse for the foreseeable future.
