What software is needed to run RW CAREWare?

CAREWare is completely free, scalable software for maintaining and monitoring HIV health and supportive care. Is capable of producing the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Services Report (RSR) required by HRSA. CAREWare can be arranged in a variety of configurations depending on the number of users in the clinic. From a wide area network (WAN) to a single stand-alone setup, you can tailor RW CAREWare to best fit each of your clinical requirements.

There are three tiers that are required for CAREWare to function properly: business tier, customer tier, and data tier. These tiers represent the graphical user interface (client tier), the middleware (business tier), and the database that stores all the data entered into CAREWare (data tier). The segment that requires the most resources from RW CAREWare is the necessary SQL Server database that includes all the personal data entered.

CAREWare can run on all Windows operating systems from Windows 2000 to Windows 7. The only required products are the .Net Framework and Windows OS. Depending on the version and operating system, you may need to configure additional computer programs to allow CAREWare to function effectively.

RW CAREWare version 4.1

To run RW CAREWare 4.1 you must have the .Net Framework 1.1 equipped on your personal computer. As soon as you have configured the redistributable package, you will need to obtain and configure .Net 1.1 Service Pack 1

The computer hardware criteria for 4.1 aren’t very strict, so if your desktop is fairly up-to-date, you shouldn’t have a challenge. You may need to configure the appropriate computer programs for CAREWare to work effectively:

1. MDAC 2.8
2. XML Parser 6.0
3. Windows 3.1 Installer

RW CAREWare Version 5

The following programs are required for a successful installation of RW CAREWare version 5.0.

1. Windows Installer 4.5 Redistributable
2. .NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package
3. .NET 2.0 Service Pack 2 is for Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP only. on those PCs you would need to mount .NET Framework 3.5 SP1, which comes bundled with .NET 2.0 SP2.

Note: Download and mount NetFx20SP2_x86.exe unless of course you are running a 64-bit machine.

4.NET Framework 3.5 SP1

Note: Windows 7 desktops have .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 by default. .Net framework 3.5 has .Net framework 2.0 built-in. .Net framework 3.5 also comes with Windows Server 2008 R2 as an add-on module (disabled by default).
