You can be right or you can be rich

For a significant part of my adult life, I walked around knowing a lot. He knew more things than almost anyone he knew. I also knew that when someone disagreed with me, it was simply because I knew more than they did. I was also broke and unhappy compared to my life now. I have come across many people who live their lives like this. Like me, they’re not malicious or mean about it, they just “know”. But also, just like I used to be, they’re broke and unhappy compared to what life could really be like for them.

I have since learned that poor people spend a lot of time going around proving themselves right. Putting on a mask of “knowing” is easy for bankrupt people, because they have plenty of reasons to choose why they are bankrupt. The economy is bad, your parents didn’t teach you any better, your boss doesn’t know how to run the business, or a hundred other reasons why you can know everything and still be broke.

My favorite line I once heard was, “You can be right or you can be rich. You can’t be both.” At this point, I’m sure you’re wondering why that is. Well, it’s really quite simple… being “right” means you’re clinging to your old ways of thinking. Unfortunately, these old ways of thinking are exactly why you ended up where you are now.

The words I’m about to share aren’t really that new, but somehow many people are forgetting them. The same thoughts and actions equal the same results. That’s the whole reason I do what I do. Because I want to teach as many people as possible that they can achieve anything and everything they want simply by changing their thoughts and actions.

You have to be continually open to learning new information and new ways of doing things. Nothing in this world stays the same. I come across people who say they “hate change” but the fact is that change is all around us. Remember, either we are growing or we are dying. It doesn’t stay the same. It is only by continuing to learn new information that you can continue to grow. So at the end of the day, the question is not what you can say to prove what you know, but rather what you are willing to do to learn.
