3D Effects Take Audiences on a Journey to the Center of the Earth (Film Review)

Eric Brevig’s first major film project, Journey to the Center of the Earth 3-D It’s not the most groundbreaking script or packed with the most impressive performances, but the 3-D special effects it brings to the screen are so spectacular that a decent plot and cast rise above mediocrity to make this remake. . Verne’s classic entertaining and exciting.

Brevig is not new to filmmaking even though this is his first major appearance with his name at the top of the directors’ list. He has taken on unit director roles in films like Shaymaylan’s The village and the recent version of wild wild west starring Will Smith. Journey to the Center of the Earth 3-D is not a direct development of Verne’s story, and therefore the direction needed to take a new approach as well. Brevig didn’t have much to work with, but he had enough to make the film a success.

The main cast was good enough, Brendan Fraser being the “big” name, and they got what they had to do; that being drives the story forward to make room for special effects. There really isn’t much to say about the acting. It is sufficient and convincing enough for what it is. The writing is perfunctory at times and what do most audience members expect? Nothing more, I suspect. Most people are there to see things in depth and jump out of their seats when objects and creatures jump off the screen!

With that purpose in mind, no one will be disappointed with this movie. Typical and expected 3D effects are used and new attention is given to many simple objects normally overlooked in a movie through cinematic options that enhance the 3D feel of the movie. The film uses the latest polarized lens technique to make the illusion work and as long as the film is in focus it works great! Magical landscapes, unknown beasts, drastic and sudden movements, even some classic carnival emotions are thrown just to keep the third dimension in the minds of the viewers. There’s no time to worry about suspension of disbelief in this movie: the plot, the writing, and the acting all come second to the optical fun that awaits the audience. Even most of the trailers were in 3-D, probably as much to prepare you for the movie as to show off the effects of other upcoming 3-D movies.

General, Journey to the Center of the Earth 3-D it’s fun and exciting for everyone. Nothing ridiculously scary or violent, while maintaining the chills, thrills, and spills one expects in a good 3-D movie. The effect has come a long way since the original version of The mask Y the thirteen ghosts, gorilla in freedomand the Kikaida Movie. Science at work, boys and girls, and that means entertainment galore! Well done Brevig! Trip worth experiencing on the big silver screen!
