An expected feminist outrage!

William Wordsworth Quotes:

Three years, grew up in the sun and the rain,

so nature said,

“A beautiful flower on earth,

never knew

I will take this girl for myself, she will be mine,

And I will make – A lady of my own.”

What is an Indian woman? A symbol of self-sacrifice, a forgiving angel, a silent victim, a source of undying love and affection confined to her traditional role as daughter, sister, mother and homemaker.

The women of today do not look like the women of yesteryear. Times have changed and so has she. She demands a higher education, emotional and financial independence, and the same amount of opportunity in this man’s world.

While visiting a friend in Kolkata recently, I passed by the home of my old schoolmate, whose mother runs the marketing division of a large multinational company. As we exchanged stories, I was intrigued to note that her mother was leading an adventurous life, because it was clear that her lifestyle, from her designer jeans to the state-of-the-art appliances in her kitchen, illustrated that India and its women have taken its proud and rightful place in the globalized world. Proving that ‘The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world’.

The Indian women have awakened from their last dream. They are no longer slaves to men, nor are they dependent on men now. Women are no longer seen as reproductive machines or domestic servants. They are no longer pictures painted on the walls of the house. Sexual subjugation is a story that belongs to the past.

I have met several young and middle-aged women who are CEOs of companies, setting an example for generations to come. I also heard about the achievements of the IT specialist and read the works of Medha Patekar and Vandana Shiva.

Woman is the builder and shaper of the destiny of nations. Although delicate and soft, she has a heart stronger and more stony than that of men. She is the supreme inspiration in the forward march of man and the embodiment of love, mercy and compassion.

India is not less than an achiever because Indian women are achievers. India has the highest number of professionally qualified women in the world. Feminism seems to be taking a step back and it’s probably a good cause. In years when a woman was arrested at her home at night, authorities would provide her home with a document signing her arrest. The next morning, the villagers find her riddled with bullets. The story goes back to the year 2004, when Thangjam Manorama Devi, a 32-year-old resident of the state of Manipur, India, was allegedly raped and shot to death. Then a rebellious action was observed.

“To be or not to be, Naked. An outrage put on by women”! Women who had completely lost faith in the nation they claimed to be theirs but their actions were that of an occupying force were part of this protest. The most harrowing revolt was seen when Manipur women, members of Meira Paibi (“torch bearers”) protested naked outside the Assam Rifles camp in the state capital, Imphal, wandering around with a banner reading: “Rape of the Indian Army to us.” This was just a display of her bravery and disappointing men.

And it’s not far off when she’ll speak in power and the world will listen

“Dear men,

It takes us a long time to raise our children. Then, when they grow up, they shoot them. This can’t go on. Levi-Strauss has also written “In every human group, women bear and care for children, and men have hunting and warfare as their specialty. Even there, however, we have ambiguous cases: of course, men never give birth to babies, but in many societies…they are made to act like they do.”

It is never too late to accept that if you rock the cradle and grow up, we are the ones who rule the world. Don’t make society a macho place where women are treated like reproductive machines.”

I salute the women who are the front lines of our time preserving legacies and organizing movements. They are our own ‘alpha queens’.
