camping with your pet

If you’re planning a camping trip, don’t forget to bring your pet. Dogs love to spend time with you outdoors. They have an extra jump in their step and let out barks of delight whenever they discover something new. Although it does add a bit more work and camping gear, you’ll be glad you brought them. Many campgrounds are dog-friendly and offer services tailored just for them. Before you leave home, take some time to research the campground’s pet rules, as well as any parks, beaches, or marinas you plan to visit.

The trip will be more pleasant for everyone if your pet is well trained. Keep them on a leash when around others and train them to obey your commands. This will ensure your safety. Keep extra brightly colored straps with your camping gear so you don’t have to worry about packing them along with everything else. Many campsites have their own cafes and convenience stores. Pets are welcome and are usually offered fresh water bowls and treats. If your day trip activities are not pet friendly, check to see if there is a pet daycare option.

Dog parks are a great way to spend time with your pet without venturing too far from your campsite. If your trip includes boating or canoeing, see if pet life jackets are available. If not, you will have to bring your own. For safety and liability reasons, most companies will not allow your pet on board without one. Spending time at the lake or on the beach is a great way to relax. Consider bringing a mesh house for your pet to relax in. Compact and lightweight, no assembly required. Once removed from its carrying case, it unfolds.

This will provide protection from sun or rain and keep them off the ground. If your trip will involve a lot of walking, make sure the trails you plan to take are safe for your pet. If there are narrow ledges and level ground, you may want to leave your pet at camp. You know you’re fit, but what about them? If they’re not used to exercise, make sure they have time to recover from one outing before moving on to the next. This will ensure a pleasant vacation for everyone.
