CCO channels missing from DTT receivers: how to retune them

BBC has changed the transponder it uses for certain channels

What channels have been affected?

Various BBC channels and their regional variations have been made. From an Irish perspective, the main channels are:

  • BBC 1 Northern Ireland
  • BBC 2 Northern Ireland
  • BBC 4 / CBeebies

How do I retune the channels?

In the example below, I list how to tune the rear on these channels on the Triax SR110. But the procedure is basically the same for all Free to air satellite receivers.

  • Press the ‘Menu’ button
  • Scroll down and select the ‘Installation’ option
  • Enter the password ‘0000 ′
  • Select ‘TP Scan’
  • Write frequency, polarity, symbol and specify only ‘free’ channels
  • Select ‘Search’
  • Additional channels are added to the end of the channel list.
  • Exit the install menu and check the new listing and order as you like (covered in the video).

Fixes for satellite receivers with USB ports Please note that for all the boxes sold by us that come with a USB port, we have uploaded an updated channel software file, for example

  • Argus Edision
  • Argus piccollo
  • Smart MX04HD

Just visit the relevant product page on our website and click on the ‘Attachments’ tab and download the new channel list file.

Will this happen again and how can I prevent it?

This is a fairly unusual problem. The BBC hasn’t changed their frequencies in about 6 or 7 years, but it’s a very big problem as there are probably 5-10 million generic Free to Air satellite receivers in Ireland and the UK that have been affected. One way to avoid this would be to use an official freesat Satellite receiver that will come with automatic channel update.
