Cleaning the steam table

One way to ensure that the food served stays hot is to use a steam table in the kitchen. The dishes are placed on the trays of the steam table, and these trays are then placed on the steam table. The steam generated by the equipment keeps the food hot and ready to serve. It also keeps food fresh and safe to eat. Because it contains food, the steam table must be cleaned regularly by the kitchen manager, and the usual schedule for cleaning the steam table is after the service period is over.

Here are the proper steps on how to clean your steam table.

As soon as the service period is over, the kitchen manager must transfer the leftover food from the steam table trays to their respective food containers and then to the refrigerator. In this way, the food remains will not be contaminated by dirty water or detergent.

After this step, the kitchen helper could turn off the steam table machine. This is done to prevent mishaps or accidents from occurring, one of which is electrocution. Once the machine is off, you could drain the water from the steam wells before cleaning the machine. This will make cleaning the machine safer and easier to clean.

Using a hand brush dipped in hot water, apply a small amount of detergent to the brush. Don’t use too much detergent though, as it will make rinsing much more difficult. Also, the money will only go to waste. Next, the kitchen helper has to brush all the sides as well as all the surfaces of the steam table, making sure to get to the corners as well. He should thoroughly scrub and wash the table top as well as the table top and front. The hood and sides should also be scrubbed and washed.

If there are food particles stuck to the steam table, the kitchen helper can use a scraper to scrape off the food. After this, she could rinse it off with hot water. She has to make sure that she has removed any traces of dirty liquid, especially detergent, before drying it. She must also make sure that it does not smell like detergent.

For lime encrusted steam tables, the kitchen helper has to descale them. The first step in descaling is to fill the steam wells with water before adding a cleaning agent that can remove scale. After this, you could turn on the machine to heat the water and cleaning agent. You must leave the machine on until the lime is completely removed before turning off the machine and then rinsing it.

For hard-to-remove limescale build-up, the kitchen butler you can lightly rub over the area with a scouring pad. You have to make sure that you have removed all traces of limescale build-up. Once this is done, you can turn off the steam before draining the water and cleaning agent. After this step, the kitchen helper should rinse it with hot water, making sure that the remains of dirty liquid and detergent are removed. Once the traces of dirty liquid and detergent are completely removed, the kitchen helper can wipe the machine with a clean soft cloth until it dries.

Lastly, you need to make sure that no traces of odors from cleaning agents remain on the steam table.
