Create a Home Cleaning Checklist

When you’re faced with the challenge of cleaning your entire home, it can be overwhelming. Your key to a clean and successful home starts with being organized and efficient. Using a home cleaning checklist will keep you on task and provide guidance. Below are some suggestions to help you stay on track.

1. Write a checklist starting with the most important cleaning tasks that require your attention. You can print a checklist from the Internet by typing “Home Cleaning Checklist” in the Google toolbar if you don’t want to write one yourself.

2. In your checklist start with a holder of your first zone of your house. Title the section with the name of the room, such as the master bedroom, bathroom, kitchen or living room, etc. I suggest underlining the Title for emphasis. Under these headings, you will write down your tasks in the respective category.

3. List all cleaning tasks under each main heading, such as lampshades dusted and cleaned under “Living Room.”

4. When you have completed the task, draw an empty box next to it to show that you have finished the task. Do this for each room you have listed. Be as detailed as possible.

5. Last but not least. Write down any cleaning supplies you may need to complete your chores. Be sure to review what you already have to ensure you save time and money. There is nothing worse than going to the cupboard or pantry and finding two of this or three of that.

6. Add a cleaning schedule to your Home Cleaning Checklist if you have time constraints. Write down the time you would like to start cleaning these sections or areas of your home. Be sure to write down hourly goals for each section or the amount of time you feel is necessary to complete each task.

7. Draw a box next to the time of day to mark the entire area of your home when you are done. I like to hang my home cleaning checklist on the fridge. So I can bookmark each item as I go. Happy cleaning!

Note: If you have someone living with you or have children, please involve them. Let them be a part of the planning and assign them daily jobs as well. This makes cleaning a lot of fun and you will really want to plan your daily cleaning schedule and write your cleaning checklist.
