Cyprus Coral Bay Resort

Coral Bay is possibly one of the most beautiful resorts in Cyprus. In fact, most visitors would say that it is the best. Located close to the thriving tourist town of Paphos, with its rich culture and history, Coral Bay is the ideal location for a Cyprus holiday. Just thirty minutes from Paphos airport and eight miles north of Paphos, it is perfectly situated for access to the rest of the island.

Coral Bay’s beaches are long and sandy, making them ideal for sun worshipers and swimmers alike. The complex has a strong following, especially among families who return year after year to the beautiful hotels and self-catering apartments that line the main road. There are plenty of bars and restaurants, as well as some vibrant nightspots if you want to party late into the night.

If it’s nature you’re looking for, then take a drive a few kilometers along the coast to Cape Lara, where there is a colony of nesting turtles. However, be careful not to disturb the turtles during the breeding season and please respect the beautiful environment of Cyprus. You can also take a jeep safari up into the mountains, where several square miles have been designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The great thing about Coral Bay is that its excellent location makes it an ideal base from which to explore the rest of Cyprus. There are excellent excursions to the Troodas Mountains, where there will be no shortage of places to visit. From monasteries to tombs and ancient Roman amphitheatres, you will find it all in Cyprus. Just a few kilometers from Coral Bay are the quieter resorts of Polis and Latchi, with their quiet squares and traditional Cypriot shops. Both towns were little more than fishing piers not too many years ago, but now they welcome tourists, and indeed many of the local businesses depend on the tourist industry for their survival.

You could even try your hand at diving with one of the excellent instructors who operate from Maninii Island, just off the Akamas Peninsula, a few miles further along the coast. There are excellent dives here in the warm Mediterranean Ocean, which is exceptionally clear during the summer months. One of the highlights of diving in this area is a trip to the wreck of the Zenobia, which sank off the coast in 1980. It was sailing from Yugoslavia to Syria with 100 articulated trucks, among other things, and the ship is sunk only 20-40 meters of water, giving novice divers a rare opportunity to visit a wreck. In fact, the Zenobia is ranked as number 25 of the best wreck dives in the world.

The best way to get around Cyprus is by car. Car hire in Cyprus is very reasonably priced and there are a wide variety of cars available for hire. Coral Bay Resort has offices for all the major rental companies and you can always haggle for a great deal. If you prefer a break from driving during your vacation, don’t worry, there are plenty of organized tours available from the Coral Bay resort. With so much to see and do in Coral Bay, be sure to save some time to try out the wide variety of water sports on offer. From jet skiing to parasailing, there is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy. On the other hand, if you are like me, you may just want to kick back with a nice cold beer and completely relax under the warm Cyprus sun.
