Do you live in your present?

I always keep wondering how difficult it is to live in your current phase. Some of us live in the past or some of us live and only think about the future. How many of us actually live in our present with regards to our emotions, mind and thought processes? I don’t really have an answer for this and may never find an answer either. My mind is so restless and scattered. I find it very difficult to focus and concentrate. I wonder if others experience like me. Emotional drives, thought processes, and intuitive abilities are extremely volatile and fickle in temperament; especially the way they affect our lives and the way or manner in which we decide or our ability to make decisions. I am not one to judge or analyze this because my mind is prone to the same restrictions and limitations; under which every human mind survives and functions.

Since my thoughts are always scattered and fragmented. I can never have a continuous or constant stream of thought. This just proves my lack of focus or concentration. A virtue I am not blessed with. Unfortunately as of now; I dont read much. However, a couple of years ago; when the burden of making a living wasn’t so strained or chronic. I read some books and I am grateful to the British Council for the same. Reading chisels your mind; makes you a visual thinker. Buying books is expensive and it is a privilege that I could never afford. When you want to do some reading; but you can’t afford to buy every book you find. Then the best option is to opt for a library. The British Council has a really good collection in its inventory. A few years ago one had the option or the ease of visiting the library. You can browse the book shelves, sit for a while, read or browse through the books you intend to borrow. At the end of the day you had the few shortlisted books; he was allowed to rent for a number of days. This was much more comfortable for souls as rare as me. Some of the best books I have ever read are from the British Council Library.

The current scenario has to do with circulation and online rental. Once you have the membership; obtains a login to access the outstanding books database. You select the books online and they deliver them to your home. Convenient and feasible: if you have a house or an address of your own. Unfortunately for someone like me: who is homeless and has no permanent address or place of his own. This comfort becomes a pleasure that is difficult to access. I am sure of one thing: the team that selects and manages the book collection. They know their job quite well and are extremely resourceful in their approach.

The reason I emphasize and emphasize the importance of reading is because of the way people exercise: to stay healthy and stress-free. In the same way, reading is an exercise of the mind, your intellectual progress. For the past two years, I haven’t read a single book and I can see the degeneration. My mind is more restless, scattered and it becomes a tedious task for me to concentrate; what makes me investigate my past or look for the future. It is not easy for people to live and think about their present; and I am one of those foolish souls. The present is what is important and when we do not live in our present. We are fleeing from the battlefield and we are not making any attempt to live or survive. Life is about survival and making the most of your skills to survive. We need to live in the present and accept what is coming.

Even when it comes to tarot readings: the emphasis is always on the present. I will not deny that the reason people approach any card reader is because they are curious about the future. You look for the future or the unknown when your present is painful and one looks for a way out. There are times when we cannot solve the current crisis and we cannot face it either. Even then, we cannot rule out the fact that the current phase or issue must be resolved to ensure a peaceful future. What we all know is that the human soul does not want to suffer. So, the moment something unpleasant comes up. We look for a way out by cursing the past or other people. Or looking forward to a peaceful and prosperous future. Who doesn’t love wishful thinking in times of panic? We all do. The difficult thing is to face the present. What is crucial right now will shape our survival instincts.
