Do you want to have a baby? Try yoga for fertility

You don’t have to be a yoga guru, or a very earthy person for that matter (unlike all the beautiful people who really get in touch with their bodies in yoga classes). I am just a normal person who wanted to have a baby naturally after 40 years. Yes, it is possible, contrary to everything you hear about declining fertility in your late 20s and how you should get to that fertility clinic before it arrives. too late.

When I decided that having a baby was the most important thing in my life, I renewed my lifestyle, my eating habits and my exercise routine. I managed to naturally overcome infertility and recurrent miscarriages and had a normal pregnancy and delivery in my late 40s. Even though we are a nation of television addicts, or perhaps more accurately, “office chair potatoes”, I had the opposite problem. I worked too hard. I was a fan of exercise, and the harder and more impactful the exercise was, the better. When I went in for some test acupuncture treatments, the acupuncturist told me that my body did not have the “constitution” for intense exercise.

“Then what should I do”? I asked. She recommended yoga. After doing some research, I discovered that there are some yoga poses and poses that can directly benefit the reproductive system by opening up the pelvic region and surrounding structures to increase pelvic circulation. Also, yoga can help with general relaxation.

Here is a summary of some of the yoga poses that can benefit the reproductive system:

1. The bridge pose: The bridge stimulates the abdominal organs and can alleviate menstrual discomfort if performed regularly. Calms the brain and can help with stress. Begin by lying on the floor. Bend your knees, place the flat fee on the floor as close to the bones of your seat as possible. Lift your buttocks to form a bridge and clasp your hands underneath you.

2. The cobbler’s pose: This pose also stimulates the abdominal organs, the ovaries and is believed to be a natural remedy for infertility. Sit on the floor, bend your knees and let them lie to one side. Bring your feet together and support your toes or ankles with your hands.

3. The lotus pose: this pose stimulates the pelvis, spine, abdomen, and bladder. It can help ease the pain of childbirth if it is done during pregnancy. This pose begins by sitting cross-legged on the floor. Slowly put one foot on your thigh and then the other foot on the other thigh. If it hurts, you can sit cross-legged. Bring your thumb and middle finger together and rest on your knees

4. The Reclining Hero Pose: This pose should probably be performed with support (a bolster pillow can be used across the back). The Reclining Hero Pose helps to open and stretch the abdomen and can ease period pain. This pose begins by kneeling, then sitting between your feet, and then slowly reclining until you are lying on the floor. This is an intermediate pose and you may need additional support with a second pillow on your back until you gain more experience.

On my DVD, “Fertility Bodywork,” I demonstrate these yoga poses among others and I also have a segment on pelvic fertility massage, acupressure and reflexology and daily routines that help increase pelvic circulation and oxygenation. All of these fertility enhancement techniques can be done yourself in the privacy of your home without the services of a paid professional.

As always, you should speak with your doctor before starting a new exercise routine and this should not be used as a substitute for medical diagnosis and treatment.
