Don Shula, the best coach in the history of the NFL

Let’s start by stating some facts that no one could argue with even if they wanted to. The only perfect season in NFL history, we could end the discussion with that, but there’s so much more. More wins than any other coach in NFL history (347-173-6). Not to mention the fact that NFL teams coached by the magnificent Don Shula made the playoffs 20 times in 33 years, including six Super Bowl appearances, and their teams won 10 games or more 21 times, top to that!

In Don Shula’s 32-year career, he only had two losing seasons (below .500). In 1993 he was named Sports Illustrated Athlete of the Year and currently holds the record for most games directed (526). If I tried to think of a coach who would compete with Don to be the greatest coach of all time, it would be practically impossible, since no coach in the NFL has been able to achieve what he has.

One of Shula’s not-so-glorious accomplishments is his current record for most Super Bowl losses (4, tied with Bud Grant, Dan Reeves and Marv Levy). But never mind, he’s still the greatest head coach of all time and that’s it. Argue with him if you want, but it’s just no use, he’s the best there is, was and quite possibly will be!
