Healthy habits equals a healthy life

One of the most important changes you will need to make when you focus on losing weight is to develop healthy habits that guide you each day. Since weight gain is usually the result of unhealthy eating coupled with a lack of exercise, it’s important to find out what’s currently going on on a regular basis so you know what to focus on.

Once you figure out what you need to pay attention to, you’ll be better able to tackle the whole process and make real progress. Here are some questions to help you identify potential problem areas that may need to be addressed in order to start forming some healthy habits to guide you each day.

1) What do you usually eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?
2) What do you usually drink on any given day?
3) Do you snack in the car, while you watch TV, use the computer, or read a book?
4) How many glasses of water do you drink a day?
5) Eating food late at night?
6) Do you often eat at restaurants or fast food places?
7) What types of snacks and drinks do you have in your kitchen?
8) How often do you exercise each week?
9) What kind of drinks do you usually drink?

As you answer these questions, you may notice certain habits that may be considered unhealthy. These are the specific areas that you will need to focus on and improve.

For example, you might find yourself drinking three sodas a day, eating Doritos while watching TV, eating cookies from a box in the car while driving to work, and regularly eating a giant bowl of ice cream at night before going to sleep. These would be the clothes that you should change when losing weight is really one of your main priorities. These are the types of habits you need to break in order to develop new, healthy habits to take their place.

Even though a soda doesn’t seem to matter much by weight, think about the big picture. Replacing just one soda a day with water will remove 15 pounds a year from your body! That’s why it’s SO IMPORTANT that you develop healthy eating, snacking, and exercise habits, because once you do and stick to them regularly, you’ll lose weight.
