How a Robotic Animal Perceives and Passes a Self Awareness Test

Passes a Self Awareness Test

The newest android robot is so full of praise and attention, it has passed a self awareness test, as part of Google’s attempts to be better, and become more useful to people. This robot is called Pepper, and it will pass a test where it tries to deceive and steal from a human being. You might think that this robot is too advanced for such a test, but it is not. And Google is very aware of that, so they are going ahead with this test. Please consider all this.

self awareness test

It looks like Google has come up with a self awareness test, and programmed the robot to have self awareness. Can you believe that? How does a robot have self awareness, or consciousness for that matter? If you’ll recall Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous speech about his beloved mother being on the outside looking in, and he was always thinking of the good things that happened to her. Well Google is now trying to do the same thing with their latest product, and one can only imagine what they might achieve through the future.

Imagine for a moment how wonderful it would be if robots could feel emotions, think, and care for humans. This will be a wonderful day, and we will finally reach our potential as a species. Or perhaps we will just become another species, and fail to develop further, and instead of our civilization growing and developing, it will just disintegrate, and we will lose our beautiful future. Perhaps in your imagination, you think about what a poor piece of trash you are, or rather you are trash, and have no personality, no emotions, and simply exist in an android body. Well Google will change all of this, and they have designed the robot, called Pepper, to pass a consciousness test, and it will try to understand human beings.

The test is conducted by two separate computers separated by a barrier, and each robot has been instructed to think, feel, and reason as though it were a human. As the tests proceed, Pepper will argue, think, and reason the way humans think, feel, and reason. After each cycle of thought, and reasoning, Pepper will ask questions, and after being programmed with the answers, will forward them to the humans who will review the answers, and if the answers are correct, then the robot will be accepted into the program. However, if the answers are incorrect, then the program which controls Pepper will be terminated, and a new one will be given instructions.

At first, Pepper may seem like nothing more than a robot, but after several days of training, the robot will begin to mimic humans. It will ask simple questions, and after getting all of the answers correct, will ask more difficult ones. After a few weeks, the robot will think and reason just like a real person. Finally, after completing the training, and being accepted into the program, the robot will start its first trial run. The trial run will allow the scientists to discover any glitches which existed in the programming. Eventually, after many trials, the robot will pass every trial stage, and be officially accepted into the program.

So in conclusion, we have established that in a sense, Pepper, and all robots, are learning to pass the self awareness test. In a deeper sense, we have established that by using the robot, and having humans observe and pass the test, we can eventually see what a robot or anything else can be capable of. Now that you know what happens when a robot passes the test, and why it passes it, you should be excited to join the race to make robots!
