Lenovo IdeaCentre B305: among the best gaming rigs

To test how the Lenovo IdeaCentre B305 fared in our tests, we are happy to take $ 699 out of our pockets. However, for this price, we expected the all-in-one to be quite powerful and versatile. We were intrigued by Lenovo’s statement that the B305 was an entertainment and gaming platform, so we felt it was worth the money. Then we got the all-in-one desktop, we were immediately impressed by its good looks and slim design. It featured sleek lines and stylish curves that would easily impress any user. Although nice, that wasn’t why we bought it in the first place. So we started testing it to see if it was nimble enough to meet our expectations. And he did, he even surpassed some of them. This is how our new Lenovo IdeaCentre B305 performed during testing.

We start by testing the most important part of the Lenovo IdeaCentre B305, the central processing unit (also known simply as the CPU). We were happy with the fairly capable AMD Athlon II X2 235e processor running in the AM3 slot and clocked at 2.70 GHz. Its large 2MB L2 cache also helped it perform very well in our tests. We must confess that he had no problem passing even the most resource intensive tests. For this, he receives the deserved 10 points out of a maximum of 10. It was time to put his memory to the test.

We found the Lenovo IdeaCentre B305’s 2GB of PC3 8500 DDR3 random access memory (RAM) to be less than we expected. However, it exceeded our expectations due to its high-speed 1333 MHz frequency. If not for that, the memory would have received only 8 points out of 10. It now receives 9 out of 10, a small penalty for size. The hard disk drive (HDD) is large enough (320GB) to store all of our test files and its speed of 7200 rotations per minute is very welcome. The hard drive receives 9 out of 10 points. It could have been bigger.

The Lenovo IdeaCentre B305 Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) is proudly represented by an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5450 which is very capable and manages to outperform crisp, crisp graphics on the astonishing 21.5-inch WXGA + display. The LED backlighting and multi-touch technologies convinced us of five the video card and display the maximum of 10 points. They really deserve it, and the maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels is just amazing!
