mouse gestures

Today I publish an article about mouse gestures. This feature that is
available in some web browsers. Hopefully
you will enjoy reading it…

In computing, a mouse gesture is a way of combining the movements of the computer mouse and
clicks that the software recognizes as a specific command. Mouse gestures can
provide quick access to common program functions. They can also be useful
for people who have difficulty typing on a keyboard. For example, on a website
browser, the user could navigate to the previously visited page by pressing the button
right mouse button, moving the mouse briefly to the left, then releasing the
button.

Apple introduced the first mouse gesture, “drag,” to replace a
dedicated “move” button on mice shipped with your Macintosh and Lisa computers.
Dragging involves holding down a mouse button while moving the mouse; tea
the software interprets this as an action other than clicking and moving separately
behaviors Although this behavior has been adopted in a wide variety of software
packages, few other gestures have been as successful. As of 2005, most programs
does not support gestures other than the drag operation. Every program that
recognizes mouse gestures does it in its own way, sometimes allowing very
short distances of mouse movement to be recognized as gestures and sometimes
that require a very precise emulation of a certain movement pattern (for example, circle).
Some implementations allow users to customize these factors.

The Opera web browser has recognized mouse gestures since version 5.11 (April
2001). Various mouse gesture extensions are also available for Mozilla
Firefox browser, such as the Optimoz Mouse Gestures extension that also offers
Rocker gestures are performed by pressing a mouse button while holding down the
other (this offers two additional commands, usually forward/back).
These extensions use almost identical gestures to Opera.

Browse the Internet more intelligently… use smart brother.
