Self-awareness: Can someone be very self-aware and disconnect from their emotional wounds?

When it comes to experiencing change, self-awareness is often said to be essential. The reason for this is that if you are not aware of what is happening to you, how can you change your life?

By being aware of what is happening both internally and externally, you will be able to move forward. Still, this is a process and not something that one develops and that is the end.

For example

So let’s say someone has a tendency to procrastinate. By being aware of this, you will be able to take a different approach and then begin to make progress in one or more areas of your life.

However, they may find that they often feel depressed. By having this awareness, you will be able to observe the thoughts you have and how you perceive reality during this time and then change both.

the observer

Also, they might step back and see certain ‘negative’ things happening all the time. The next step will be for them to see what role they are playing in what is happening.

Looking more closely, you can see that you have the inclination to do certain things that are undermining you. For example, they might find that they are often late, don’t try hard enough, criticize others, and/or are not very present with others.

It’s worth it

Thanks to the work you put into developing your self-awareness, then your life will improve. Along with this, they may begin to develop a new identity, seeing themselves as a self-aware person.

However, if this happens, they may need to be careful as it can go to their heads and they could soon end up experiencing something that makes them wonder how they could not notice. But, as this is a lifelong process, not a destiny, this is not something that can be avoided.

a result

By developing your self-awareness, you are likely to find that your relationships change. Some of your relationships might change, while others might end up falling apart and new relationships will be formed.

One thing that might surprise them, if this were to happen, is that they might end up in intimate relationships with people who are not very self-aware. This could be seen as a pattern that they have that they need to change.

A level

Now, although you will have developed a certain level of self-awareness, that does not mean that you will have a good connection with yourself and you will be operating as a complete human being. In other words, they can be self-aware and still be in an emotionally closed state.

If they are, they may be totally oblivious to how they feel and what’s going on in their body. However, you will be very in tune with what is going on in your mind, your thoughts and beliefs, and what is going on externally.

the forgotten area

However, if you live in a society that is very mind-centered, you may believe that it’s all about what’s going on upstairs. So whenever they experience ‘negative’ feelings, they can be seen as a consequence of thoughts they are aware of and unaware of.

As a result of this, changing your life will be all about changing your thoughts, questioning your beliefs, and taking action. So it won’t even occur to them, let alone be something they’ll dismiss, that they likely have emotional wounds to deal with.

the evidence is there

When it comes to your emotional wounds, they will be at a deeper level, below your awareness. At the same time, what happens at a deeper level can transcend them, through ‘negative’ feelings, painful sensations, racing thoughts, ‘irrational’ fears and phobias, for example.

Ergo, while these feelings are often hidden, the signs will be there to show you that you have emotional wounds to work through. But of course, unless one recognizes the signs, this is not going to stand out.

a lot of effort

What this illustrates is that their conscious mind is a very small part of who they are, and there is so much more to them. The part of them that cannot be seen carries a lot of internal material that is having a massive impact on every area of your life.

This also shows that while your thoughts can define how you feel, repressed feelings and feelings that are not repressed affect you as well. And, if you were to rely solely on changing what’s going on in your mind and changing your behavior, without dealing with your emotional wounds, your life is likely to be much more difficult than it needs to be.

Putting Out Endless Fires

Whereas if they were to start dealing with their emotional wounds, it’s likely to change what’s going on at the top and the people they’re attracted to and attracted to are likely to change. What this boils down to is that deep down they are vibrational energy and can only have experiences that are in alignment with what they are vibrating.

What you are vibrating is not purely a result of the thoughts you are having, it is also a result of how you are feeling both consciously and unconsciously. If you have a mind full of positivity but a body full of negativity, you won’t be as effective as you would otherwise be.

Awareness

If one can relate to this and is ready to work through what is going on at a deeper level and become a whole human being, they may need to seek outside support. This is something that can be provided with the help of a therapist or healer.
