Shichida Method – How to use flash cards the right way

According to Shichida, both the right and left brains are interconnected. Flashcards help improve both sides of the brain at the same time. It is important to use it properly.

Here are some things I do with my daughter when using Shichida-style flash cards:

Flashcards 2 – 3 sessions a day. Covers various topics. Take the card from back to front. Flash slightly higher than your child’s eye level. Hold the flashcards at arm’s length from the child. Show the picture and say the words at the same time. Don’t show the same cards twice in a row. Make sure each card has a title. Show 1 card per second and slowly increase the speed each time you practice.

Start with 100 cards in the first month. Increase to 250 and then slowly work your way up to 1000 cards.

By showing the picture and reading the word at the same time, you are connecting your child’s left and right brain.

The left brain processes sounds and languages, while the right brain processes images and images. Flash cards allow you to develop and strengthen your child’s left and right brain at the same time. When I use cards with my daughter, she usually can’t sit still for long.

If your child can’t concentrate, take a break and show the cards later. According to Shichida, a child can absorb better when he is relaxed.

It is important that your child has fun. This way, your child will be willing to make flash cards a part of her daily routine as it will be the same as playtime.

Learning takes time and you should not rush the process or expect immediate results.

Stick to the routine and be patient with your child.
