Surfer girl dies struck by lightning

Surfer Katherine Diaz (22) from El Salvador died on Friday after being struck by lightning during her surf training. The young woman, who was part of the Central American national surf team, was struck by lightning as she emerged from the water.

The fatal accident occurred on the beach in the seaside town of El Tunco, in the country’s southwest on the Pacific Ocean. Diaz was preparing for a series of international surf tournaments. She was medically assisted immediately after the incident, but the doctors were unfortunately unable to do anything.
